Once your map becomes larger than one piece of paper, it's hard to add more to it while you're on the go. So when I joined mom and dad on their walk, I packed my multi-purpose clipboard box and took it with me.
This kit was super easy to carry around on our walk, and when I got to someplace I wanted to map out, I didn't need that excessively large map that could get caught by the wind. I could take a pencil out of that box and draw on the new sheet of graph paper attached to it instead. Then I can copy that section onto the map later on.
Another bonus is that I can do some coloring while hiking as well. With a partially-colored paper and an assortment of coloring pencils inside, I can complete this coloring once I head back to the scene from which I drew this in the first place!
...And now that I'm back from that walk and this strategy works, I'll use this travel kit on ALL my outdoor expeditions from now on!
